The Revision of the Massachusetts History and Social Science Curriculum Framework

Public Comment Period: January 23 – April 2, 2018

Please Participate!

On January 23, 2018, the Massachusetts Board of Elementary and Secondary Education voted to release the current draft of the 2018 Public Comment Draft of the Massachusetts History and Social Science Curriculum Framework for public comment. The comments will inform additional revisions to the framework. The Department invites educators and members of the public to provide comments via the public survey and to participate in the upcoming outreach events.

In order to gain additional public input, the Department, in partnership with the Massachusetts Council for the Social Studies, will host conference calls and presentations by region across the state. These sessions will welcome participation by PK-12 and higher education faculty, administrators, the general public, students, and parents/guardians.

The Board of Elementary and Secondary Education will vote on the formal adoption of the revised framework in June.

School Choice Decision 2018/2019

The School Committee has determined due to enrollment figures and class sizes that school choice spots will not be available for the 2018/2019 school year, with the exception of current LHS students in Grades 10-12 whose families need to relocate during these years.  These students are given the opportunity to remain at LHS through 12th grade in order to graduate with their class. Updated & Approved Insufficient Funds Policy

The updated Insufficient Funds/Negative Balance Policy was approved by the School Committee on 5-3-17 and will begin to be implemented as of May 30, 2017. Snow Days 2011-2017

Records Access Officer-Public Records Law

Facility Use Rates Approved

A facility use rate schedule took effect as of January 4, 2017 per School Committee vote and will be in effect through June 30, 2019. This rate schedule can be accessed through the link below. More information will be forthcoming as to how to reserve a school facility and the timelines involved.
