Molly Ellen O’Connell Receives 2012 Superintendent’s Award

Molly O’Connell, a senior at Lunenburg High School and daughter of Kevin and Margaret O’Connell of Lunenburg, is the recipient of the 2012 Superintendent’s Award. Molly has mastered her school’s most challenging curricular offerings and emerged as the leading scholar in her class. Molly is the recipient of the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship; a member of the LHS National Honor Society, and also received the Smith College Book Award her junior year in recognition of outstanding academic achievement. She is the recipient of an Advanced Placement Scholar’s Award and is a National Merit Commended Scholar.

In addition to having distinguished herself as a scholar, Molly has also been recognized for leadership and service. Throughout her high school career she has received numerous academic awards and managed a rigorous class schedule while participating in athletics and several other extracurricular activities including Mock Trial and Student Council, as well as being the Vice President of her class and being active in various clubs. Molly is the captain of her varsity soccer and basketball teams and also plays AAU basketball. She represented Lunenburg at the MIAA sportsmanship summit and regularly volunteers as a youth program coach and a peer tutor.
