A New Chapter Begins …Please Join Us for the Celebration!

I extend a special invitation to the Lunenburg community to join us on Saturday, October 22 for the Lunenburg Middle-High School Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 12:45 p.m. in the auditorium. The building will be open to the public for self-guided tours at 11:00 a.m.

Dedication speakers include Lunenburg Middle-High School students Julia Wilson, Robert Nash, and Brendan Tobin; Congresswoman Niki Tsongas, 3rd Congressional District of Massachusetts; Executive Director Jack McCarthy, Massachusetts School Building Authority; Chairman Jamie Toale, Lunenburg Board of Selectmen; and Chairman Michael J. Mackin, Lunenburg School Building Committee. The ceremony includes the presentation of the colors by the Boy and Girl Scouts of Lunenburg while the LHS Marching Band, under the direction of Caryn Wardell, plays the National Anthem. Attendees will have the opportunity to view local photographer Eric Vickery’s video of the project. A reception will follow featuring cider and apples from our local orchards, healthy snacks from our cafeteria, cake and coffee.

Planning is underway for additional dedications including the dedication of the Jane Doyle Memorial Playground at Turkey Hill Elementary School; the middle-high school’s outdoor classroom, which was made possible by a donation from Powell Stone and Gravel; and the re-dedication of the Memorial Gymnasium also will take place at a later date. The community will be notified when these dedications are scheduled.

SPECIAL NOTE: Due to the weather forecasts for rain and wind, the Homecoming events have been postponed to Saturday, October 29. Schedule: 12:30 pm – Homecoming Parade beginning at Turkey Hill Elementary School; 1:40 pm – Senior Recognition on turf field; 2:00 pm – Homecoming Football Game vs. Murdock on the new turf. Murdock was gracious enough to give up their regularly scheduled home game so that we could have a true Homecoming game. A special, “Thank You” to Murdock High School!
