Superintendent's Update May 25, 2016

Post date: May 26, 2016 12:14:25 PM

Congratulation to the amazing Class of 2016! It was a beautiful Baccalaureate Service last night. The Community Awards Ceremony is tomorrow evening at 6:15 and Graduation is Friday, May 27 at 6:30 in the gym of the new building.

A major milestone for the project was achieved yesterday with the issuing of the Certificate of Occupancy for the Lunenburg Middle-High School. Congratulations and thank you to the citizens of Lunenburg for supporting the project, Tappe Associates Architectural Design, NV5 Project Management, Shawmut Construction, and the School Building Committee. Phase 2 of the project begins June 15, 2016 with the abatement and demolition of the old building followed by the construction of fields, basketball court, tennis courts, and student parking. The dedication of the new building will take place after school resumes in the fall. Public tours will be available throughout the summer months.

School Committee Reviewing Fees for FY17 – The School Committee is meeting tonight and will consider fees for the 2016-2017 school year. I am recommending the elimination of the bus fee. However, increases in athletic and activity fees are recommended. The proposed fees will be posted at our website for feedback tomorrow. The School Committee will not act upon the fees before the June 15 meeting.
