Superintendent's Update July 11, 2017

Post date: Jul 11, 2017 9:06:49 PM

I trust everyone is enjoying their summer break. Following are a few items of interest.

Summer Tennis Program

Summer tennis with Ms. Laserte and Mr. Sparks is back in Lunenburg! There will be two sessions of tennis lessons for children ages 6-13 this summer on the amazing new tennis courts at the Lunenburg Middle-High School. Tennis lessons are a fun and great way for children of all skill levels to improve their tennis and have lots of fun with small sided games and other related activities. Pickleball

For adults looking for fun - learn Pickleball! We added Pickleball lines to the tennis courts at LMHS. Pickleball is a combination of several racket type sports played on a much smaller court hence longer rallies. FREE Pickleball clinic at 6:00 p.m. every Tuesday evening this summer. There is also court space for game play! Come and learn a fun new sport. Equipment is provided. Please call Sandy Laserte at 978-340-3510 if you have questions.

School Committee-District Improvement Plan

The School Committee meets Wednesday July 19 at 7:00 p.m. in room D132 of the Lunenburg Middle-High School. On the agenda is discussion about the proposed new Mission Statement, Vision, Core Values and District Improvement Plan. Lunenburg Plan V10_FINAL_DRAFT.pdf Public input is encouraged. Email comments/suggestions to lps@lunenburgonline.com

Also on the agenda are the Superintendent’s Goals, updates to the Extended Day Handbook, and the Memorandum of Agreement related to contract negotiations with custodial/maintenance personnel.

Artisans Festival

The Lunenburg Library’s first Artisans Festival will happen on Saturday, July 15th from 10 am - 5 pm.ARTISANS Festival.pdf list of attending artisans.pdf

Residency Update Reminder

I want to remind parents/guardians that over the summer we are conducting residency verifications for ALL students entering 3rd, 6th, or 9th grades. The residency verification began with cross referencing student addresses with the Town’s list of property owners. Parents/guardians of students whose residency cannot be verified from the property list receive a communication from the school office in July requesting specific documents. If contacted parent/guardians are required to respond by August 16 with the appropriate proof to remain enrolled. http://www.sentinelandenterprise.com/news/ci_31108641/lunenburg-schools-begin-residency-checks
