Post date: Dec 22, 2016 9:14:43 PM

Our Winter Break begins at the end of the school day tomorrow. We return to school on Tuesday January 3, 2017. My best wishes for a very happy holiday with family and friends. May the New Year bring to all peace, joy, and goodwill.

2017-2018 School Calendar – Last Call for Feedback: Three options for the 2017-2018 school calendar are under consideration. The attached final drafts 2017-2018 Calendar Options.pdf provide details around open houses, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development days. Calendar Option A is based upon guidelines from the Calendar and Start Time Advisory and includes a 2 day February Break. Calendar Option B is a traditional school calendar with students starting before Labor Day and a 5 day February Break. Option B also has the Friday before Labor Day as a non-school day. In Calendar Option C, students start school after Labor Day and have a 2 day February Break. The School Committee is seeking your feedback. A calendar for next school year will be voted at the School Committee meeting on January 4, 2017. Feedback must be submitted by noon on Tuesday January 3 to LPS@lunenburgonline.com.

The LHS Theater Club performs John Cariani's play "Almost, Maine" on 23rd at 7p.m. in the LMHS Auditorium. The production is a series of dramatic and comedic character studies that depicts average working people discovering odd romantic connections and/or coming to terms with relationship disappointments in deep rural New England. The sum of its parts promises to be as poignant as it is endearing. Admission: Students $5, Adults $10.

Strategic Visioning & Planning: The first meeting of the Strategic Visioning Steering Committee was December 19th. The group focused on core values. Core values are a set of fundamental beliefs of an organization and its personnel that serve as guiding principles for behavior and action. The following individuals are members of the Strategic Visioning Steering Committee and welcome your feedback about important areas such as student achievement, student personal growth, family/community involvement, and school climate.

Have you completed the quick Life-Long Learning Interest Survey? Lunenburg's Life-Long Learning Advisory Committee seeks your input to implement an adult education program. Workshops would be offered on evenings or weekends at the new Lunenburg Middle-High School by local instructors for a nominal fee. Link to digital survey: https://goo.gl/forms/c26Jns3zEfiznhWh1

School Committee Meeting – Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at Town Hall (televised) Topics for the meeting include a presentation of an amazing $32,000 donation by the Lunenburg PTO! Discussion about the FY18 budget will continue and the Committee will take action on facility use fees and the school calendar.
