We had a good start to the new year with students, faculty, and staff returning from the holiday break rested and focused. The transition to our new transportation providers was positive. There were few delays, most weather related, and those that were not related to weather were quickly resolved. Please remember that schools will be closed on Monday, January 20th to observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day. The second term of the school year ends on January 24, 2014. Special Town Election Tomorrow
Special Town Election is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, January 11, 2014, from 7:00 AM until 5:00 PM at the Thomas C. Passios School, 1025 Massachusetts Avenue gymnasium.
Congratulations Alaina Johansson, Class of 2014 Superintendent’s Award Recipient
Yesterday, Ms. Johansson and seventy other top scholars from across Worcester County were honored at the Superintendents Annual Scholars’ Luncheon held at Assumption College. College President, Dr. Francesco Cesareo, was in attendance to welcome the scholars and commended them for their many accomplishments. Ms. Johansson has mastered Lunenburg High School’s most challenging curricular offerings and emerged as the leading scholar in her class. She has also been recognized for leadership and service. Alaina is the daughter of Holly and David Johansson of Lunenburg.
FY15 Pre-School Lottery Registration
Parents who wish to register their child for entrance into the Lunenburg Public Preschool lottery for the 2014-2015 school year may do so at the office of the Lunenburg Primary School, 1401 Massachusetts Avenue, Lunenburg, MA. The registration period is February 10 thru February 14 between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM. Children must be age 3 or 4 on or before August 31, 2014, to register. This program is tuition based. The lottery drawing will be held February 21 at 1:30 p.m. at the Primary School. Parents are not required to be present at the drawing. All parents are notified of the outcome of the lottery within five school days. Please call 978-582-4122, ext. 3102, for further information.
FY15 Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten registration for the 2014-2015 school year will be held at the Lunenburg Primary School, 1401 Massachusetts Avenue, Lunenburg, MA during the week of February 24 thru February 28 between 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Children who are five (5) years old on or before August 31, 2014, are eligible to attend Kindergarten in Lunenburg. The following are required to register: (1) photo ID of parent/guardian; (2) an original of the child’s birth certificate; (3) a copy of a recent physical & immunizations; (4) three proofs of residency - check our website for acceptable proofs of residency; (5) legal custody form (if applicable); (6) a copy of the child’s IEP or 504 plan (if applicable); and (7) general knowledge of your child’s “firsts” – when the child first sat up, rolled over, walked, talked, etc. The Kindergarten program is a full-day program five days per week from 9:00 AM to 3:20 PM. No tuition is charged for attending full-day Kindergarten in Lunenburg. Please call 978-582-4122, ext. 3102, with questions.
