Our schools have a long and proud history of preparing students for life-long learning and responsible community membership. Even before this particular mission statement was crafted almost 15 years ago, the Lunenburg Public Schools were providing not only a strong academic program for students, but were schools characterized by engaged and dedicated faculty, staff, and students. Ours is a rich tradition and one that I have been honored to be a part of.

Over time our community, our schools and our students’ educational needs have changed. The critical importance of every student having access to a rigorous curriculum that supports 21st century skills cannot be overstated. All these dedicated educational professionals – the administrators, faculty and staff – are deeply concerned about the future of our schools.

Education is the pathway to the future, and we must do everything in our power to ensure that our neighbors next door and across town understand just how critical this year and this budget are for the future of our students and this community as a whole.

My goal is to provide you with a clear picture of the school budget and the reductions that will be required should we not address the structural gap that currently exists not only in our schools but in our community as a whole.

This is a first step – let’s see what kind of future we can build for our students.
