Substitute applications are completed online via SchoolSpring (www.schoolspring.com). Administrators, with access to online substitute applications, may review/contact qualified applicants for placement on building substitute lists. Placement on the substitute list is subject to receipt of a satisfactory CORI report.
It is the responsibility of school administrators, or their designees, to ensure that new substitutes have satisfactory CORI reports in place prior to working in their respective buildings and that substitutes have complete all required payroll paperwork at town hall.
Substitute Training--each year the district provides a two-hour training for applicants interested in substitute teaching. The orientation provides information about the position, guidelines and procedures as well as the district's expectations for substitute teachers.
Colleges normally approach building administrators regarding student teacher placements. Building administration will solicit volunteers from the faculty in assigning student teachers; however, the final decision regarding student teacher placement rests with the building principal.
Student teacher placement is subject to receipt of a satisfactory CORI report.
