Electronic Communication of Student/Staff Information & Social Networking
The protections set forth by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act extend beyond school buildings. The release of or reference to student personal data including descriptions that would allow for student identification (i.e. nickname, physical attributes) on blogs, social networks, or in personal emails or text messages is prohibited.
Additionally, employees should exercise caution when posting personal photos, materials/data on publically accessible websites and text messaging systems.
