Welcome back students! It was so wonderful to have you return to school. I want to thank you for all those smiles, kind words, and welcoming attitudes you extended to your friends, peers and new classmates. I also extend a hearty “thank you” to parents, faculty, staff, and administration for making the return to school a positive one for our students. Thanks and congratulations to the secretaries, technology specialists, custodians, maintenance personnel and administrators whose hard work this summer set the stage for this positive first week.
I also want to acknowledge the diligent work of our drivers who kept their focus on safety and getting to know the students on their routes. Given the adjustments and fine tuning new schedules are becoming routine. We know we have a couple elementary routes with every seat filled. I have asked Dee bus to provide us some options to address those routes. I will keep you posted. Thank you also to parents/guardians for your cooperation relative to drop-off/pick-up at all the schools, but at the new building in particular. I very much appreciate your cooperation which had a positive impact for everyone.

On the agenda is final action on the School Committee and Superintendent’s goals for 2016-2017. The Committee will also be discussing the capital plan. I will provide an update on enrollment and other back-to-school related topics that evening.
